(Past & Present work)

Proshift Technologies Ltd

Project Administrator; (August 2019..... on-going)

Proshift are a small company in Derby who specialize in designing, manufacturing, and installing semi-auto paddle-shift gearshift systems for clients largely in the car or bike racing markets.

  • Roy Tansley is the owner of Proshift and the inventor of the first semi-auto gearshift system, and Roy's latest invention idea is something called the Pneumatic Energy Recovery System (or PERS for short). This is a way of utilising the unused energy created in a standard combustion engine resulting in a much more efficient and greener engine.

  • My role in this project is to administer the initial phase of the PERS project i.e. to oversee the acquisition of an industrial grant from Derbyshire County Council which was needed to provide a large part of the funding for the project. This involved frequent correspondence with D.C.C. providing them with all the necessary figures and paperwork with regard to their due diligence process, and resolving any additional queries that they may have had.

  • Going forward I will be required to submit proof of all expenses that have been incurred on this project and submit this info to D.C.C. I have also been tasked with finding and sourcing the best value products and vendors for some of the specialist machinery that will be needed to create the prototype system.

  • To-date the grant has been successfully acquired from the council and options on the major parts/expenses have been provided to Roy.  Unfortunately, the Coronavirus situation has meant the whole project and all Proshift work has now ground to a halt for the foreseeable future.

Macular Society Support Group

Newsletter Editor (voluntary role): 2016... (on-going)

Following redundancy from my job at bmi I was keen to undertake some voluntary work whilst searching for a suitable opportunity. After initially serving as a meeting helper I was asked by the group chairwoman if could take on the role of the newsletter editor.

The role involves producing a monthly newsletter containing info/summary of the past group meeting, an outline of outings and talks taking place in future months. The following steps are involved:

  • Taking notes during each meeting, then comprising a 2-page word document using said notes and also by doing extra research on the places visited or the organisation/people giving a talk.

  • Once put together the document is then converted to a pdf document and the 2 versions are emailed to all those group members that are able to receive emails.

  • A hard copy is printed out and then posted to each member who required a paper version of the letter.

Having produced newsletters for several years now I’ve had nothing but positive feedback and thanks for creation of these newsletters.
